2017 July: Molly
Molly is a two-and-a-half-year-old chocolate lab mix and has been patrolling the 350-acre, 27-hole layout of Blue Hill Country Club in Canton, Massachusetts, for 2 years now. Molly loves to chase all sorts of wildlife including geese, chipmunks, squirrels, and the occasional deer, coyote, or fox. Molly’s favorite daily activities include greeting the crew at the morning meetings with a wiggle and a high five, making sure she is always the first one in for lunch, and rolling around in fresh-cut grass clippings. As a true New Englander, she enjoys every seasonal activity the golf course has to offer, whether it’s playing hide and seek in a pile of crunchy leaves, sprinting through light, powdery snow, or chasing ice-cold water out of a hose on those hot summer days. When her tasks are complete and she needs to recharge her batteries, she can be seen riding around in the cart alongside her owner, Chris.
Chris Cyr is the Assistant Superintendent at Blue Hill Country Club and has been a GCSAA member for 5 years. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with an associate’s degree in turfgrass management, and a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture. Growing up in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, Chris has a strong passion for not only agronomy, but classic golf course architecture. When Chris is not at work on the golf course, he enjoys watching the Patriots and Bruins with his wife, Meg, and hanging out with their fur family which includes Molly and their two cats, Meows and Sarge. You can also find him playing golf and anything else the great outdoors has to offer.
