Dog on a log

2019 October: Archer

Archer is a 1-year-old (4 months in the photo) German shorthaired pointer who is vital to the day-to-day operations of DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, DE. Archer is tasked with keeping all unwelcome critters off the property, and he enjoys before-dawn patrol runs and romping around the golf operations workshop. Despite only being on staff for a year, Archer strides around as if he owns the place and is beloved by employees and members. He is fearless — rightfully so given that his middle name is “Danger Zone” — and has been known to jump off a golf cart going full speed. Jeffrey Bray, a 2012 graduate of the Rutgers Professional Golf Turf Management School, is the superintendent of the DuPont Course at DuPont Country Club. Jeffrey is a five-year GCSAA member and a member of the Philadelphia Association of Golf Course Superintendents. He and Archer are inseparable.
